Oh yes, we updated BlockWorld to v2.0!
This is a massive update, that makes some very substantial improvements to gameplay, and adds quite a few hefty features.
First on the list, we were thinking awesome new Awards that make players work for the new content would be a great idea. Build at deep levels, have 10 friends join or blow a lot of stuff up will all unlock new fences, blocks, and items. Visit the Awards screen, and complete the Award tree to unlock all of the new stairs, blocks and more!
And then, vibrant new graphics all over the place. From subtle waving plants, to almost blinding lens flairs during the day. Alterations to the texture pack just make the world pop a little bit more, and an increased view of 60% looks great with the new per pixel fog. The biggest change you may notice is the lighting engine has been improved, with sharper rendering of blocks, increasing the sense of “Depth” you can see.
And then, all your friends join and help you build your base! Better network traffic handling, improvements to connection stability and some replacements to the network info pane make handling players in your world easier! This is something you just have to check out for yourself, since BlockWorld focuses on the Multiplayer experience on Xbox. We’ve doubled rendering performance, lowered stutters moved a lot of processing to the Xbox’s other 5 cores! Or for Windows 8 machines, whatever dual core, hyperthreaded rig you have going on.
While everyone builds, and builds all alike, you as the server for your world have the option of turning on the new “1 Hit Rule”. This means that you and the other players can knock down blocks, even Adamantium, in one hit with your bare fist. This was highly requested by customers, and we’re happy to offer this now on Xbox and Windows 8.
As different as Avatar Miner Paintball can be from BlockWorld, there is a feature that BlockWorld fans wanted in the game. Paintball Guns! We’ve included four guns from AMP in BlockWorld, but they are modified to suit BlockWorld’s needs. If you click on a Gun in your belt, you will discover it has it’s own menu, where you can load up any colour bottle of dye you like. Then you can use the Gun to decorate your world. Fancy that, a constructive firearm!
But I can hear the BlockWorld on Windows 8 users asking, “Why don’t you update it for me?” BlockWorld for Windows 8 v2.0, will be slightly different. The W8 version shares every new feature, every new Paintball Gun, block and graphical improvement with only two differences:
1) Improved battery, and resource consumption on Tablets, thanks to our new Surface Pro and Microsoft Visual Studios 2013!
2) Multiplayer is still on the way.
We’re committed to making great Windows 8 games, so we’re putting BlockWorld sales revenue back into improving hardware to make better BlockWorld updates. And of course, bring other titles to Windows 8.

P.S: BlockWorld v1.7 has been re-worked since this blog post, resulting in the previous set of updates being pulled from review, and re-submitted resulting in a better update. The v2.0 update.
